1. Set variables

OLD_VERSION="1.0.3"
NEW_VERSION="1.0.4"

2. Write NEWS entries for AppStream in the same format as usual.

git shortlog v$OLD_VERSION.. | grep -i -v -E '^\s*(trivial:|l10n:)' | grep -v Merge > NEWS.new

3. Update library version if new ABI or API in meson.build

4. Commit changes in AppStream git:

git commit -a -m "Release version $NEW_VERSION"
git tag -s -f -m "Release $NEW_VERSION" v$NEW_VERSION <gpg password>
git push --tags
git push

5. run './release.sh --version=$NEW_VERSION --git-tag=v$NEW_VERSION --sign'

6. Upload tarball: scp -r *.tar.xz* annarchy.freedesktop.org:/srv/www.freedesktop.org/www/software/appstream/releases/

7. Upload documentation:
   scp -r build/release_install/usr/local/share/doc/appstream/html/* annarchy.freedesktop.org:/srv/www.freedesktop.org/www/software/appstream/docs/

8. Do post release version bump in meson.build, RELEASE

9. Commit trivial changes:

git commit -a -m "trivial: post release version bump"
git push

10. Send an email to appstream@lists.freedesktop.org
